Advances in PET imaging of cancer

Molecular imaging has significantly progressed in imaging technology, probe development, data quality, and machine learning analysis. Positron emission tomography (PET) combined with computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) offers comprehensive molecular, functional, and morphological data in a single scan. However, clinical evaluation of images often relies on only a few parameters, disregarding the potential of multiparametric imaging data. Utilizing such data can provide valuable insights into tumor characteristics, receptor expression, metabolism, and drug response. By integrating the full potential of multiplexed imaging, personalized medicine can be implemented more effectively, ensuring patients receive optimal care and treatment.
