AKIP1 accelerates glioblastoma progression through stabilizing EGFR expression

A study has discovered that a protein called AKIP1, found in various cancers, including glioblastoma (GBM), is linked to tumor progression. AKIP1's high expression is associated with worse patient outcomes. In GBM, AKIP1 cooperates with a transcription factor YY1 to activate HSP90AA1, stabilizing EGFR and promoting tumor growth. This reveals a new mechanism behind EGFR-related GBM progression.
