A study explored the impact of combining empagliflozin and semaglutide on urinary albumin-creatinine ratio (UACR) in type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients with albuminuria. In a randomized, placebo-controlled trial with 60 participants, empagliflozin was administered alongside renin-angiotensin system inhibition for 26 weeks, followed by randomization to semaglutide or placebo for 26 weeks. Results showed that semaglutide did not significantly alter UACR compared to empagliflozin alone. However, semaglutide led to improved glycemic control and reduced plasma aldosterone levels. The study suggests limited additional benefit in reducing UACR with combined treatment.

Among patients with CKD, DCB treatment resulted in a 2-year target lesion failure rate of 23.6%, compared with 30.0% with balloon angioplasty. Treatment-related infections and life-threatening adverse events were also less frequent, although neurotoxic events were more common with blinatumomab.

An interim analysis of a 10,799-patient European trial found that starting surveillance colonoscopy 5 years after removal of high-risk adenomas was noninferior to starting at 3 years.
