This study examined postmortem brain and liver tissues from 100 subjects to explore the link between alcohol consumption and Parkinson's disease (PD). Results showed a significant negative correlation between liver steatosis and brain α-synuclein (αS), suggesting less αS pathology with more liver damage due to alcohol. No associations were found between liver pathology and hyperphosphorylated tau, amyloid β, or TDP43 proteins. The findings support meta-analyses indicating that individuals with a history of alcohol consumption rarely develop α-synucleinopathy.
