This study examines the relationship between alcohol consumption and the risk of incident heart failure (HF) in 407,014 participants from the UK Biobank. The findings suggest a J-shaped association, where moderate alcohol consumption (especially wine) was linked to a reduced risk of HF. However, beer consumption was associated with a higher risk, particularly in women. The study highlights sex-based differences in the effects of alcohol on HF risk.
