All chronic rhinosinusitis endotype clusters demonstrate improvement in patient reported and clinical outcome measures after endoscopic sinus surgery

This study examined the response of different chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) endotypes to endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS). Mucus samples from CRS patients were analyzed for inflammatory cytokines, and patients' outcomes were measured using various tests. The study identified four clusters based on protein levels: type 2 inflammatory, non-type 2 inflammatory, non-inflammatory, and indeterminate. While the type 2 cluster showed the highest improvement in symptoms and clinical scores after ESS, all clusters showed improvement in patient-reported and clinical measures. This suggests ESS is effective across various CRS endotypes, indicating its broader applicability as a therapy.
