PiZZ individuals had significantly lower VA/TLC ratio (p=0.004), higher RV (p<0.001), and RV/TLC ratio (p=0.001). Ever-smokers in the PiZZ group showed signs of hyperinflation with higher TLC (p=0.025) and RV (p=0.003). No significant differences were found between never-smoking PiZZ and PiMM individuals, except for RV/TLC ratio (p=0.026).

Chronic urticaria is a heterogeneous mast cell-driven disease with major effects on quality of life. Current care emphasizes diagnosis, limited targeted testing, disease monitoring and stepwise treatment, beginning with second-generation H1-antihistamines and up-dosing when needed. Omalizumab and newer therapies such as dupilumab and remibrutinib expand options for refractory disease, while future care may be guided by biomarkers and disease endotypes.

A study found that the peak amplitude of infraslow oscillations in sleep spindle activity was significantly reduced in people with Alzheimer’s disease, while frequency and bandwidth remained preserved. However, limited comparative evidence highlights the need for species-specific, high-quality randomized trials.

A retrospective study of 33 women with postpartum hemorrhage during cesarean delivery found that uterine compression sutures achieved hemostasis in 69.7% of cases.
