Analyzing Radiation Complications in Uveal Melanoma Post-Brachytherapy

In a retrospective cohort study involving 225 uveal melanoma patients treated with iodine-125 plaque brachytherapy, researchers analyzed the impact of radiation doses on visual outcomes and radiation-induced ocular complications. Findings revealed associations between radiation doses and complications such as radiation retinopathy, optic neuropathy, and vitreous hemorrhage. Notably, 66.7% of radiation retinopathy patients received anti-VEGF injections, shedding light on the evolving landscape of radiation-induced complications in the era of anti-VEGF.
