Ancestry-Specific Differences in Alzheimer's Disease Gene Expression

This study compared iPSC-derived microglia from 13 individuals of Amerindian, African, and European ancestries. Differential expression of 12 Alzheimer’s disease genes (including ABI3, CTSB, and MS4A6A) was observed between ancestries. While 5% of all genes showed differential expression, accessibility differences were less than 1%. These findings highlight how genetic expression in microglia varies across populations, providing insights into ancestry-specific Alzheimer’s disease risks.
