Antagonist enamel tooth wear produced by different dental ceramic systems

This study evaluates enamel tooth wear caused by various ceramic crown materials over 24 months. A network meta-analysis of 7 clinical studies (261 crowns, 177 subjects) compared Lithium disilicate, metal-ceramic, and monolithic zirconia. Metal-ceramic and zirconia induced significantly higher enamel wear than natural teeth, while lithium disilicate caused minimal wear. The analysis highlights the need for further randomized trials due to sample size limitations. Dentists should consider material-specific wear when selecting restorations.
