Apolipoprotein B’s Role in Atherosclerosis and Plaque Formation

The review highlighted the role of apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins in atherosclerosis. LDL particles, after entering the artery wall, bind to proteoglycans, leading to modifications that promote inflammation and foam cell formation. Other apoB-containing lipoproteins, although less abundant, are more atherogenic per particle and contribute similarly to plaque formation.
