Apple's new sleep apnea detection feature, recently approved by the FDA, will be available on the Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, and Ultra 2. This feature uses a metric called "breathing disturbances" to detect potential sleep apnea signs by measuring wrist movements via the watch’s accelerometer. The algorithm, validated through clinical studies, will categorize nightly data in the Health app as "elevated" or "not elevated" and analyze it monthly to identify severe or moderate sleep apnea. Users can track their data over various periods and share a comprehensive report with healthcare providers.
