AskBio Presents Promising First-in-Human Trial Results of Gene Therapy AB-1002 for Advanced Heart Failure

Asklepios BioPharmaceutical, Inc. (AskBio), a gene therapy company owned by Bayer AG, presented Phase 1 trial data for AB-1002 (NAN-101) at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions in Philadelphia. The trial established the safety and efficacy of NYHA Class III Heart Failure patients. Preliminary results demonstrated clinically meaningful improvements in key parameters after single-dose AB-1002 administration. The study emphasized the potential for gene therapy to impact advanced heart failure. While acknowledging a fatal event in Cohort 2, no adverse events related to treatment were reported. AB-1002 is a one-time gene therapy designed to increase therapeutic protein inhibitor 1 production, targeting protein phosphatase 1 associated with congestive heart failure.
