A study investigated the correlation between physical activity (PA) types and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Using NHANES data (2017-2020) on 5933 adults. According to the results, leisure-time PA showed a significant negative correlation with hepatic steatosis (controlled attenuation parameter, CAP), particularly in women and younger individuals. Occupation-related and transportation-related PAs exhibit no significant association with CAP. Leisure-time PA also correlates negatively with liver fibrosis in men. The findings suggest leisure-time PA's efficacy in preventing hepatic steatosis, especially in women and young adults, emphasizing its importance over other PA types for NAFLD prevention.
