The study focused on gingival colour variation and its correlation with skin tone, gender, and geographic location. 839 subjects were assessed using the Dummett-Gupta Oral Pigmentation Index and makeup foundation shade methods. Significant associations were found between skin colour and gingival pigmentation, with females generally exhibiting darker gingiva. Geographical location also impacted gingival melanin pigmentation. This suggests that gender, skin colour, and location play significant roles in determining gingival colouration patterns.
