The study investigated the link between periodontal disease and disc structural failures in patients with cervical degenerative disorders. It involved 108 adults undergoing cervical spine surgery, categorized based on periodontal status. Significant differences were observed in dental parameters between groups, with the moderate/severe periodontitis group showing a higher incidence of endplate change. Moreover, a moderate negative association was found between neck disability index (NDI) scores and periodontal parameters, suggesting that severe periodontitis may contribute to increased occurrence of disc structural failures and poorer clinical outcomes in cervical degeneration patients.
