A new study investigates the relationship between platelet counts and clinical outcomes. The study revealed a U-shaped association between platelet counts and 42-day postpartum mortality, with an inflection point at approximately 220 × 109/L. Patients with thrombocytopenia (<100 × 109/L) exhibited increased mortality rates and higher incidences of intensive care unit admissions, postpartum hemorrhage, and multiple organ failure. The findings highlight the importance of platelet counts as a prognostic factor in AFLP.
