The meta-analysis investigates the link between prenatal vitamin D deficiencies (PVDD) and dental caries (DCs) in children. Through examining twelve studies with 11,021 participants, PVDD was associated with a significantly increased risk of DCs in children. Notably, mothers with prenatal vitamin D levels ≤ 35 nmol/L showed a higher risk. Adequate vitamin D levels during pregnancy are crucial for preventing DCs in children, emphasizing the importance of maintaining optimal prenatal vitamin D levels.
