A study examined the link between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoporosis in Japanese populations using genetic data. The researchers used Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses with RA-related genetic variants as instrumental variables. Various MR methods were employed to ensure the robustness of results. The study found a potential causal connection between genetically predicted RA and osteoporosis, supported by multiple methods. Horizontal pleiotropy, a potential confounder, was not detected. The findings suggest a positive association between RA and osteoporosis.
