This study investigated the relationship between weight change patterns and the onset of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Analyzing National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data from 2011 to 2018, the study included 12,284 participants aged ≥40. Transitioning from normal weight to obesity and consistent obesity increased CKD risk, persisting after adjusting for confounders but becoming statistically insignificant after accounting for comorbidities. Notably, transitioning from obesity to normal weight showed significant CKD correlations. The findings underscore the importance of long-term weight management and maintaining a healthy weight throughout adulthood in mitigating CKD risk.
