Association of serum uric acid with prognosis in patients with myocardial infarction

A new study delves into the role of elevated serum uric acid (SUA) in individuals post-myocardial infarction (MI). Analyzing data from 41 investigations involving 225,600 MI patients uncovers alarming trends. The study found that those with high uric acid levels faced a significantly higher risk of short-term mortality and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). Long-term outcomes also showed increased all-cause mortality and MACE in this group. The findings suggest a link between high uric acid levels and worse outcomes for heart attack patients. However, more research is needed to confirm these results through randomized controlled trials.
