Asymptomatic Dengue Infections Significantly Contribute To Disease Transmission

A recent study highlights the significance of understanding asymptomatic dengue infections, which contribute to the spread of the disease. The study shows that about 75% of yearly dengue cases are asymptomatic. These cases exhibit 80% mosquito infectivity compared to symptomatic cases, contributing to 88% of infections. A systematic review indicated a global prevalence of 59.26% asymptomatic cases, with higher rates during outbreaks and among primary infections.
