Atogepant Shows Promise to Treat in Difficult Cases of Migraine

The ELEVATE trial assessed the efficacy and safety of atogepant, an oral calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor antagonist, in patients with episodic migraine who had not responded to conventional oral preventive treatments. Over 12 weeks, atogepant significantly reduced mean monthly migraine days compared to placebo. Adverse events were generally mild, with constipation being the most common. These findings suggest that atogepant could offer an effective preventive treatment option for patients who have failed multiple conventional treatments for migraine prevention.
