In a study of 608 infants born <30 weeks gestational age (GA) from the NOVI cohort, attention problem trajectories were analyzed from ages 2 to 5. Using latent growth curve modeling, results indicated low average initial attention problem levels with little overall change, though significant variability was observed in initial levels and progression. Higher baseline attention issues and steeper increases over time correlated with sociodemographic, medical, environmental, and neurobehavioral factors and predicted a higher likelihood of ADHD diagnosis by age 5. This study highlights the clinical relevance of early attention trajectories, suggesting tailored follow-up strategies may benefit preterm infants at elevated ADHD risk.
