Atypical and typical presentation of erythema nodosum

This study investigates erythema nodosum (EN), the most common panniculitis form affecting shins. Analyzing 105 patients, it compares typical EN (solely on lower legs) to atypical EN (upper legs, trunk, arms, or face involvement). Atypical EN shows a shorter diagnosis time (p=0.034) and a higher occurrence of sarcoidosis (23% vs. 9%, p=0.042). Adalimumab is prescribed only in atypical cases, while remission times are similar. Limited sample size suggests potential missed differences. Bigger studies may clarify nuances.
