A cross-sectional study conducted in Enugu, Nigeria, surveyed healthcare providers, including doctors, pharmacists, and nurses, to assess their knowledge, practices, and obstacles related to the use of tranexamic acid (TXA) for preventing and treating postpartum hemorrhage (PPH). Out of 220 distributed questionnaires, 207 were analyzed (response rate: 94%). The results revealed that only 23.7% of respondents possessed good knowledge of TXA use for PPH. Awareness of the recent World Health Organization (WHO) recommendation on TXA for PPH was low at 19.8%. Furthermore, most respondents neither prescribed nor dispensed TXA, with only a few using it for all PPH cases. Key barriers included a lack of awareness regarding the latest WHO recommendation, a preference for other uterotonics, and concerns about the drug's cost.
