Anaerobic, gram-negative genera such as Prevotella, Fusobacterium, and Porphyromonas were more abundant in cystic fluids. In 79% of cases, cystic fluids differed from negative controls. These results highlight that RCs are not sterile and harbor specific bacterial populations.
