
Balloon pulmonary angioplasty (BPA) has become a key treatment for patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) ineligible for pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA). This review explores BPA's development, its clinical role, and the technical approach, alongside medical therapies as adjuncts. Recent data from our institution show promising hemodynamic improvements and survival rates. Ongoing research is crucial to optimize BPA’s role and patient outcomes.
