In a recent study, researchers investigated the effects of Janus kinase inhibition (JAKi) using baricitinib (BARI) on rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. The study included 30 RA patients and found that BARI significantly improved disease activity and synovial inflammation in these individuals. Additionally, there was a notable increase in trabecular bone mineral density (vBMD), demonstrating improved bone mass. Biomechanical properties also improved, indicating enhanced bone strength. Interestingly, the study noted no new safety concerns related to BARI treatment. These findings suggest that BARI therapy can positively impact the bones of RA patients, potentially offering a promising treatment option.
