Bell's Palsy and Pregnancy: Incidence, Comorbidities and Complications. A Meta‐analysis and Systematic Review of the Literature

This article discusses a meta-analysis of studies investigating the prevalence of Bell's palsy (BP) among pregnant patients and the frequency of pregnant women in BP cohorts. The analysis found that the incidence of BP among pregnant patients was low (0.05%) and that most occurrences happened during the third trimester. The study also revealed a pooled incidence of maternal comorbidities associated with BP during pregnancy, such as gestational diabetes mellitus, hypertension, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, and fetal complications. Further exploration of the association between BP and pregnancy is recommended.
