RHEUMATOLOGY

The 52-week study on bimekizumab's safety and efficacy for patients with active psoriatic arthritis (PsA) who previously had inadequate responses or intolerance to tumor necrosis factor inhibitors concluded with promising results. Out of 400 patients, 86.8% completed the trial, with no reported active tuberculosis, uveitis, or inflammatory bowel disease cases. Sustained efficacy was noted from week 16 to 52, significantly improving clinical and patient-reported outcomes. Notably, 51.7% of bimekizumab-treated patients achieved ≥50% improvement in the American College of Rheumatology criteria, and 65.9% achieved complete skin clearance by week 52. Using systematic evidence synthesis and the GRADE approach, it addresses corneal cross-linking, intrastromal corneal ring segments, keratoplasty, and individualized follow-up. Most recommendations remain conditional because evidence certainty is low or very low in several clinical areas.

UROLOGY

A nationwide Colombian study identified 4,608 healthcare encounters related to childhood interstitial and diffuse lung disease (chILD) from 2016–2024. Average annual prevalence was 3.32 per 100,000 children, highest among infants and with a secondary rise during adolescence. Reported cases increased annually (IRR 1.022), while declining markedly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
