Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm: a comprehensive review in pediatrics, adolescents, and young adults (AYA) and an update of novel therapies

Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is an uncommon blood cancer affecting various body parts. Pediatric BPDCN appears less aggressive clinically but often presents with a wider spread. Unlike adults, many children can be successfully treated with a high-risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia-like regimen without immediate stem cell transplantation. However, transplantation is still recommended for high-risk cases or relapsed/refractory situations. Exciting advancements include novel agents, and CD123 targeted therapies, potentially revolutionizing treatment approaches. A comprehensive review shed light on BPDCN's presentation, diagnosis, and treatment.
