This cohort study underscores the importance of blood pressure (BP) across the life course in influencing carotid intima-media thickness (IMT), a marker for cardiovascular disease. Analyzing data from infancy to young adulthood, the study reveals that BP at each life stage significantly contributes to the association with carotid IMT in adulthood. The findings emphasize the cumulative impact of BP exposure, supporting the need for prevention efforts beginning in infancy to ensure cardiovascular health across the life course.
