Brain-Liver Link Uncovered in Obesity-Related Liver Disease

A new study reveals that endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in brain neurons connecting the subfornical organ and hypothalamus drives lipid buildup in the liver during obesity. Inhibiting ER stress in these neurons reduced liver fat and key lipid acquisition genes, offering insights into the brain's role in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).
