Cannabinoids, including Tetrahydrocannabinol, can be detected in exhaled breath condensate (EBC) after cannabis use, offering a potential method for monitoring recent cannabis consumption. In a study using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry, five cannabinoids were identified in EBC samples collected at 0.7 and 1.7 hours post-use. THC was present even before cannabis use in some samples, and its concentration decreased over time. Non-THC cannabinoids appeared only after use. EBC sampling warrants further research to optimize cannabinoid recovery and evaluate its effectiveness across different cannabis use modes and time points.
