The CARE study is a randomized controlled trial that aims to evaluate the effectiveness of antithrombotic prophylaxis with rivaroxaban in reducing the risk of thrombotic events, invasive ventilatory support, and death in COVID-19 outpatients. The study will include adults with confirmed or suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection and mild or moderate symptoms without indication for hospitalization. The primary endpoint is a composite of venous thromboembolism, invasive mechanical ventilation, major acute cardiovascular events, and mortality within 30 days of randomization. The study will provide important information about the potential role of thromboprophylaxis in COVID-19 outpatients.
