Caregiver Mental Health Linked to Childhood Anxiety and ADHD

Caregiver Mental Health Linked to Childhood Anxiety and ADHD

The study analyzed the nationwide prevalence of behavioral, mental, and developmental issues among U.S. children aged 6–11 from 2019 to 2022, focusing on associations with caregiver mental health and social determinants. Using data from the National Survey of Children’s Health (NSCH), binary logistic regressions indicated significant links between severe childhood anxiety and caregivers rating their mental health as “fair” or “poor” in both 2020 and 2022. Additionally, caregivers who rated their own mental health as “fair” or “good” were more likely to have children with severe ADD or ADHD than those reporting “excellent” mental health.
