Examining tobacco users with varied lung function, this study (10,132 participants, 10.1-year follow-up) found cardiovascular deaths prevalent in PRISm, lung cancer deaths in GOLD 1-2, and respiratory deaths in GOLD 3-4 with BODE ⩾7. Poor respiratory quality of life correlated with higher all-cause mortality regardless of lung function.
