CBT Plus SSRIs Show Promise for Treating Premature Ejaculation

A meta-analysis of 15 high-quality randomized controlled trials involving 1,243 patients revealed that cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) combined with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) significantly improved outcomes for premature ejaculation (PE). The findings indicated that this combination prolonged the intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IELT) and enhanced perceived control over ejaculation, sexual life satisfaction, and spouses' sexual life satisfaction. Notably, no significant differences in side effects were observed between the treatment and control groups. The study supports CBT as a viable adjunctive treatment for PE, providing effective outcomes without increasing adverse reactions.
