CD47 Identified as Key Driver in Skin Photoaging Process

The study found that CD47 is overexpressed in sun-exposed aged skin and photoaged fibroblasts, impairing macrophage-mediated clearance via the CD47/SIRPα axis. Blocking this axis enhanced fibroblast elimination. CD47 expression correlated with reduced collagen, increased elastin, and higher p16 levels. These findings suggest CD47 is a promising biomarker and therapeutic target in photoaging.
