The study evaluates whether combining CD8+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) with PD-L1 combined positive score (CPS) improves prognosis in recurrent/metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). The combination of high TILs and CPS ≥1 was associated with improved survival. While PD-L1 CPS better predicted immune checkpoint inhibition (ICI) response, the combination of both biomarkers provided stronger prognostic value for overall survival than either alone.
