The study investigates the coexistence of celiac disease and type 1 diabetes in Egyptian children, revealing a 4.5% prevalence of celiac disease among those with T1DM. Serological screening identified 11 cases (5.5%), with three confirmed through biopsy. Positive cases exhibited higher insulin doses, increased HbA1c levels, and more frequent hypoglycemic attacks and DKA episodes. The study highlights the negative impact of undiagnosed celiac disease on metabolic control and general health in children with T1DM, emphasizing the importance of early detection and management.
