Cervical angle as a possible predictor of abnormal placental position in women with endometriosis

This case–control study investigated the impact of endometriosis on perinatal outcomes, specifically examining the association with abnormal placentation. Data from 3453 singleton deliveries between 2015 and 2019 were analyzed, with 159 cases having confirmed endometriosis. The odds ratio for abnormal placental position was significantly higher in pregnant women with endometriosis, indicating a potential correlation. Subgroup analysis using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans revealed a lower cervical angle in pregnant women with a history of endometriosis, suggesting a potential link between endometriosis, uterine retroversion, and abnormal placental positioning.
