
This study investigated changes in alveolar bone width around dental implants and identified reference landmarks for standardizing cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans. Two groups of patients were enrolled, and CBCT scans were analyzed. The first group compared distances between the anterior nasal spine (ANS), posterior nasal spine (PNS), and implant tip, finding no significant differences. The second group assessed changes in alveolar bone width after dental implant surgery using the ANS, PNS, and floor of the nasal cavity as landmarks. Results showed bone width increased at 1 mm and decreased at 4 mm and 7 mm below the alveolar bone crest. These landmarks can aid in standardizing CBCT scans and understanding alveolar bone remodeling post-implant surgery.
