Changes in Gait Parameters and the Podal System Depending on the Specific Malocclusion Type in School-Age Children

This study investigated the correlation between malocclusion types and gait parameters, foot pressure distribution, and body balance in 155 participants aged 12-16. Grouped by malocclusion types—Angle’s class II, Canine class II, Overbite, and a control group without defects—analysis revealed significant differences in left and right step durations and the projection of the body center of gravity on the left foot. The findings suggest that anterior mandibular distoocclusion may impact head and neck positioning, muscle tension, and contribute to balance disorders during walking.
