A study involving heart failure patients explored the impact of sacubitril/valsartan (Sac/Val) treatment on adrenomedullin, a vasodilatory peptide involved in microcirculation and endothelial function. The levels of mid-regional pro-peptide of adrenomedullin (MR-proADM) were measured in patients with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) receiving Sac/Val or valsartan. After 12 weeks of treatment, MR-proADM levels significantly increased in both HFrEF and HFpEF patients on Sac/Val, while no significant changes were observed in valsartan-treated patients. However, the increase in MR-proADM did not correlate with improvements in cardiac structure, function, or health status.
