The study investigates the influence of childhood trauma and FKBP5 rs1360780 genotype on FKBP5 methylation and its potential relationship with PTSD symptom severity in rape survivors. The results show that childhood trauma interacts with FKBP5 genotype to affect methylation changes over time. However, FKBP5 methylation did not predict PTSD symptoms. These findings offer new insights into the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms underlying PTSD following trauma, warranting further exploration.
