The article discusses the lack of literature on children and young people's participation in decision-making within healthcare organizations in New Zealand. An integrative review was conducted, examining peer-reviewed manuscripts and published guidelines, policies, reviews, expert opinions, and legislation. The study found a discrepancy between what experts believe is necessary for children and young people's participation in healthcare decision-making and what is actually happening in practice. The lack of published literature on the topic in New Zealand is also noted.
