This study highlights the importance of early detection in reducing cancer-related deaths. Metastasis, the spread of cancer cells to non-malignant tissues, often occurs before primary tumors are detectable. Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are cancer cells found in the bloodstream and are associated with metastasis. Detecting CTCs in patients with early-stage cancer could indicate aggressive disease and expedite diagnosis and treatment initiation. However, improvements in CTC detection efficiency are needed. This perspective discusses the clinical significance of early cancer cell dissemination, the potential of CTCs for early cancer detection, and technological advancements that could enhance CTC capture and diagnostic performance.

Blocking miR-30e-5p reduced atherosclerosis in obese and atherosclerotic mice, highlighting a potential therapeutic pathway.

Evidence indicates that ASC speck formation triggers caspase-1 activation, gasdermin D-mediated pyroptosis, and IL-1β/IL-18 signalling, creating self-amplifying inflammation and tissue breakdown. The model could refine diagnosis and help redefine the biological limits of vital pulp therapy.

Cyclosporine 0.09% and 0.1% ranked highest for corneal staining improvement, while tacrolimus showed early improvements in tear production and stability. Varenicline increased tear production but needs further comparative validation.
