Injury of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) has become increasingly common, particularly in overhead athletes. However, there is no consensus on managing the ulnar nerve in UCL reconstruction (UCLR) in patients with preoperative ulnar nerve symptoms, as literature supports not decompressing the nerve and ulnar nerve transposition (UNT). The study compares the outcomes of patients who underwent ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction (UCLR) with and without ulnar nerve transposition (UNT). UCLR is a common surgery for patients with ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injury, while UNT is performed for patients with preoperative ulnar nerve symptoms. The study hypothesized that the two groups would have no significant difference in patient outcomes or return-to-sports (RTS) metrics. The study found no statistically significant differences between the two groups in patient-reported outcomes and RTS.
